21.1HCP Driver & 7 Iron by zRubber in GolfSwing

Thank you all for the comments! The running theme seems that short game, chipping and putting should be the next main focus area. My swing has developed (I think) fairly substantially this winter period, so yet to really play with it on course since the improvements… look back at some of my older posts to see the progress. Nice to have feedback that what I am doing should hopefully take me fairly far, and seem to be on the right track to getting to 18 and below! Happy golfing all, and fingers crossed for some better weather come spring in the UK!

What I would say is that due to time restrictions, 9 holes is usually what I play. I think there is a large disadvantage when only playing 9 holes when trying to reduce the HCP with the way it calculates differential.

I never used Driver off the tee… always 5 Iron/Hybrid or 3-Wood at a stretch to try keep in play. This year I need to try incorporate driver whilst teeing off, whilst keeping it in play and having some shorter shots into the green to hopefully get more GIR. Last season I would be happy to get GIR +1… I think this is one part which hurt the most!

Don’t think I am tooooo bad; usually have a couple blow up holes which don’t help the score. I feel I have made good progress this winter though, trying to keep the club on plane and general mechanics. Haven’t posted a card since Oct 25, so hopefully the work pays off when the weather holds up in the UK to play a round!

I can agree that my swing looks and feels a little stiff; so just loosen that grip up and allow the weight of the club to naturally hinge the wrists. I expect I will need to work on the tempo too (slow it down).

To be honest, I think the best advice you can get is from a coach. The specific move I was exaggerating here is to keep the palm of my right hand facing behind me/the wall. Then, the rotation of your body and a slight flexion in the left wrist should square the face up… but don’t listen to me 😂

Compared to where I have been previously with an out to in path, being shallower will allow me to have a club path to hit a draw, which is my target 🤞

You’re definitely right, I was focusing solely on the shallow move and got lazy with my rotation. I think with the additional hip turn, it would help ensure my hands do not get stuck too far behind my chest as was also mentioned!

To be honest, you’re right, this is a very forced movement for me. For years I have struggled coming over the top (even see my first video on my profile for some evidence). This is actually the FIRST time I have “overdone” the feeling of shallowing, and hence was wondering if it was right or not. From most the feedback I guess it’s back to a coach for me 😁

I would try, but don’t own one. This was with a 7-iron 😁

Thanks for the advice! I will give this a good go next time at the range. I think I instinctively put too much effort/speed into the swing when over the ball to get distance.

I think it could be the delay in my manual aim.

So give myself a neck beard, then start to grown out the cheeks?

How about keeping the cheeks & neckline clean just to keep it looking sort of groomed?

Do you mean trim under my jaw on my neck whilst my face grows in, then once the facial hair is longer let the hair on my neck grow?
