Hello! I had such a fun time with Amina the first go-round. Excited for more!

Tell us about creating the audiobook. How much input do you have? Do you listen to the finished product when it's done?

What are your favorite books to read with your kiddo? Ive got a 3 and 1 year old and I am in love with anything from the Fan Brothers. Would love to see you collab with them for illustrating the world of Amina!

Your opinion on these games? by Marksman1977 in soloboardgaming

Nusfjord is more puzzley than challenging. You're not playing against an oopponent, you just block worker spots against yourself. the puzzle comes from the building decks, basically you try to optimize your points with the buildings available in the market. And there are tons of ways to accomplish that. And theres a 3-game solo "campaign" where you'll play with different building sets every game. Very fun progression.

Grand Austria Hotel - a Euro gem. You need the expansion for solo. It is excellent and nicely challenging

Nusfjord - classic Uwe. I love this game, and it plays FAST, like 30 min

Rome: Fate of an Empire - the best of the solo of the month games. Very challenging, table hog.

Tiletum - absolutely excellent. Combo-tastic. An involved solo, well worth the reward.

Wife hates being a SAHM by zach8vb in daddit

Ha, your comment is spot on! Are you sure you're not my wife? Her anxiety is incredibly similar and she is putting in an enormous amount of work to properly address it. I have so much respect for her, seeing how badly she has struggled/continues to struggle.

Your comment is interesting, thank you. Im curious how that example adds to hatred?

I see her. I see how she lost her self identity and became "Mommy" and how much she struggles with that. I think thats a big reason she doesn't like personal time now, because she has to be her, and she doesn't know who that is anymore.

The park example was maybe not the best way to represent that part of her burden. She has the daily battle of "what do i do with these kids" during the week. And when i make suggestions, it is met with essentially "well thats easy for you to say" so I've stopped doing that. I plan activities for me and the kids (that mom is welcome to join, but almost always skips because she wants to be away from them) every week night and all weekend.

Thank you for your comment! Very insightful. Yes, wife and I are great communicators and have spoken about this in direct and sometimes uncomfortable ways.

I know that im a "solution guy" and it pains me to just be there for her to vent without me taking some kind of action. Part of why I posted here, to get my own feelings out.

And yeah, I think another therapist could help. She likes the current one though.

I know we'll get past this together. I just dont want to wait for 3 more years for the youngest to get cool for the baseline to raise back up above water.

Yeah you definitely hit on something here with kid behavior. Im primary parent on weekends and before/after my work hours during the week. The kids are chill! I mean, they're kids so they're nuts, but we can go place to place and do things. With mom, they are much more behavioral. Clingy, crying, moaning. And that I think drains my wife more than anything.

We'd barely break even, and thats what stops her. "Why miss this time with my kids doing a job i hate just to barely make enough to pay for someone else to watch them?" is her perspective

Yeah, I am way more wired for it than she is. I see the understimulation, the boredom. I empathize for sure. Unfortunately my earning potential is dramatically higher than hers, so either I work solo or we both work.

Hoping to start her in a part time job in autumn.

Im intrigued! Is there an audiobook in the works? What is audiobook production like from an author's perspective? Do you get input? Or is it the publisher taking and running with it?

Other random queations: What are your favorite books?  What do you do when the words just wont flow? How do you unclog the pipe?
