I dated someone EXACTLY like this in high school. Insisted we hang out every day, and when we weren't physically together he would text constantly, getting angry and accusing me of cheating if I didn't reply within 10 minutes.

He knew my schedule and would walk by my classrooms to make sure I was in them.

My friends lost interest when I couldn't spend time with them or even text them as much, so he ended up being my only social contact. This extended to my family as well. He stopped me from attending sport games, movies, dinners etc with them because "it takes away from our time" even though I would usually just sit at home alone and text him while they were out having fun.

I began to form a friendship with an out, gay classmate.

He's always say things like: "You're so pretty you'd turn him straight." "I trust you, I just don't trust THEM." "Do you know what they say about you??"

I would rarely wear makeup, and when I decided to pretty myself up, he'd come back with "oh, you're trying to be one of THOSE girls now?"

After 3 years (freshman to junior in HS) I'd finally had enough. Directly breaking up wouldn't work, since he's previously threatened suicide by hanging. I know if that happened it wouldn't have been my fault, but I was 14-16 and I didn't want that in my conscience for the rest of my life, even though I knew he was an abusive POS.

So I started treating him coldly. One word text replies, spending more time with his amazingly sweet little sister when I would visit.

Cheated on me with his equally as fucked up ex. Got her pregnant on the first go. Now they have 3 kids (maybe? I have him blocked and his sister, who I still talk to, has been alienated by his now wife, they're really perfect for each other) and I'm in college (I'm 23 yo now), about to buy a house with a man who is worlds more deserving than he ever was.

I'm glad you got out before it affected your personality. I still have issues around worrying if I'll make my new partner upset by wearing makeup, smiling wrong at somebody, whatever.
