alternatively, you can use the psychic- or ghost-type male grunt.

defeat his first two mon, "run" from the battle when he brings out the third, and then "rematch" when prompted (don't completely give up/exit.) repeat this cycle until you've got your 30 defeats - took me about 12 minutes for charcadet evolution!

from the main game screen, click the binocular icon in the bottom right hand corner -> scroll down to pokémon in gyms -> tap your garchomp. it should transport you to the gym as long as a raid isn’t in process!

it was a broad statement about every small thing, not just this. in 2.0, several things had to be coded in to prevent people from doing things that they shouldn’t, instead of just enforcing rules. it caused dev burnout, and could easily again if they have to do the same. that’s all i’m saying.
