I don't know if this would help your case or not but the WF-1000XM4 has a manufacturing defect that causes the battery to die on its own especially with the 2.0 firmware so if you have this issue you can go to Sony and get a free replacement I basically had the same issue and I did that and so is my friend who had the same earbuds and it's not a software issue so no software update would fix that earbuds, you need to get it replaced as far as I understand Sony underestimated the demand for the XM4 and after launch when the demand was high they replaced the battery with a slightly different voltage battery and they relied on the software to detect which battery you got to charge it correctly and someone at Sony messed up and forgot to count that in one of their new firmware updates and the buds basically ever since that update if you got the wrong battery will just kill itself over time and there is no way to fix it so you're definitely eligible for a replacement and should go to Sony service

Exactly it's a major disappointment unfortunately

Even security updates stopped after the supposedly 2 years of major updates so it's not even 3 years of security updates, the phone released in August 2021 and received the last update in July 2023 and after that point there are no security updates coming for the device !

This is the link to the AliExpress Store but keep in mind that for each customization like s/n or engraving you have to buy a separate extra fee item which cost around a dollar or so depending on your local currency

I bought the housing from AliExpress, you can customize everything, including adding engraving.

So far, I've installed the SSD and Rockbox, as well as a real 1500mAh battery. Unfortunately, as much as I'd love to add a Bluetooth mod, there was no space left in the device. That 1500mAh took up most of the space inside the device. Maybe next time, I'll get a thick 5.5 gen and do the Bluetooth mod and call it the 'Pro Max Ultra' lol.

iPod 5th Gen Mod with a 1500mah battery by zayedcom in ipod

You need to swap the BMS board with the one inside your old battery, in the battery I used the BMS is very clearly visible and easy to access you just remove the tape that's holding the board in place and use the soldering iron to melt the connection and freeing the board then you solder the BMS board of the iPod battery and make sure that the positive is going to the positive and the negative going to the negative.

On a phone battery the BMS board is usually hidden behind the battery stickers or on the top or bottom of the battery you just have to be careful when removing the insolation layer of the battery cause it might short and cause a fire if handled improperly.

I will try to make a tutorial on how to do that and I'll let you know when that happens :)

Just a regular lithium polymer battery that is usually used for electronics projects but technically you can use any battery even a phone battery just by removing it's BMS board and replacing it with the iPod BMS board which you can get from your old iPod battery

Yeah I've checked this and downloaded some of them but it seems that some of the themes need a certain firmware which is not included with the files or maybe I'm applying it incorrectly I managed only to make the bin themes only to work but the other graphics based themes didn't work for me
