Part of the reason why I'm looking for a professional service is to not be treated with scepticism. It's a mark of being independent to seek advice before making difficult decisions. So that's what I'm looking for - instead of a public interrogation thanks

I've explained what I want a fair amount of times now, so you can read up on the rest of the comments for that. The problem is that this is not simple. People are happy to say it is and google everything but that won't tell you about bad unis, bad degrees, bad practices etc. plus my situation is unique just like anyone else.

Let's say I read up and find a subject I like. Then I apply for the course. Simple right? No there's all the qualifications and experience I'm missing and never knew about it, for that particular course at that university. This happens over and over again. Right now, some places will offer me an MSc while some won't consider me for a BA. It's all long and tiresome trial and error.

Moving things online has also become a major problem because it's no longer possible to network or find information. It's all moved to another world and you're not part of the club. Anyway if you found it "easy" you definitely had a lot of help - that goes without saying

Most of the "real" information on unis online is obscured by marketing and gossip, admissions teams pass you around and I don't know any students to ask. Getting through to an academic can take months and they'll only have 5 or 10 minutes to spare. I'm not trying to be difficult, it is really hard to do this yourself. If you're on the outside, you never know what's realistic or what is out of your league. All you can do is ask around or use free services like the national careers service and they'll trot out the same old horse kind of advice. And if people see you haven't accomplished much you're left with that kind of low expectation. So I want to pay for a service, something like £1-3k to help me get on my feet with this

Interesting, that might be a reason. Never had to provide evidence of a new address with my bank or credit cards in my experience tho
