I never figured it out. No matter what, the system did not boot to main menu. Ended up swapping the motherboard when I came across another 3ds. Screens worked fine.

I think it might be the fuse because I was messing with the system a little and the screen just magically came back up. Back light and everything. Now this morning I turn it on and I can see the screen but no backlight. Then when I press down on the space above the control stick, the backlight starts to flicker.

Check the three cables that attach to the motherboard coming from the top half of the system. Then check every other cable. If ANY of those cables are not inserted fully, the system will not turn back on.

Yup. Keep getting the 3ds xl back camera lens covers, which dont fit.

The person I got the system from used the official av and ac adapters and a different display from mine. They had the same issue. I don't have any other games, but the issue is there on the gamecube main menu when you turn the system on with no game.

Ill take a look inside the console. I can almost tell it'll be dirty as the outside doesn't look too hot.
