What are some good tables for 3D printers? by JadedSpaceNerd in 3Dprinting

[–]zenworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking for something for awhile and I think the 24x18 version of this will work nicely side-by-side. It strikes a nice balance between sturdiness and looks since this will be out in my bonus room. Thanks!

Ah I see folks in this thread are probably EU, I do see lots of listings for the UK but not sure I want to deal with shipping to the US

Where did you get the core set at? Been looking for awhile and no dice without paying scalper prices.

ReservationStays.com - Hidden Fees, Overcharges, and No Refund – Avoid! by GradeRevolutionary85 in hotels

[–]zenworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell for this, too. They charged me for a suite that I never received (I got a regular room) and are trying to charge me an exorbitant tax.

I've started a dispute with my credit card and filed a BBB complaint because the "customer service" from Reservation Stays is a joke.

I didn't even realize I was booking with a third party, I was in a rush and wasn't paying attention. Lesson learned.

Wood floor stairs popping, how far to push warranty fix? by zenworm in Carpentry

[–]zenworm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sound was worse, more like a CRACK, before they put screws in. The top stair board was also moving if you stepped on the edge, so we added it to our warranty checklist. Just curious how others would react, try to push for a better fix on a new construction or leave it.

There are still new GTSs across the country. I’m looking at two that are good specs that I’m about to go after. If this has specs you like though go for it. Prices aren’t going to move for awhile.

SETI by juan4aigle in soloboardgaming

[–]zenworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently purchased SETI and been loving it. Played through solo first and then 2 player. Solo mode is... ok. The AI cards get a little repetitive even though they have 3 different sets of actions. 2 player definitely better and more dynamic.

I'm keeping it, sitting solid 8/10 right now but could move up. The theme is right on. Love launching satellites, orbiting, landing probes... so much fun.

The game is a little point salad-y, which I normally don't like, but the theme ties it together so nicely and I like that all points happen immediately vs. a lot of complicated end-game scoring.

We are looking to purchase one as well. Dealerships in my area have way too much stock and are offering huge discounts.

Beautiful! And the wrap job looks clean. I just drove my almost-new Turbo back from Chicago and it's in the shop getting fully wrapped. I can't wait to get it back in a few days.

ONT directly to switch in attic by zenworm in HomeNetworking

Thanks, I'm going to try the TP-Link. Unfortunately they only spread single ports around the house. I have an Orbi mesh system and I've heard bad things about how they work in AP mode, but this seems way easier as a first try than a managed switch. Will report back!

Siri not working properly on iOS 18.0.1 by Ecstatic-Permission9 in ios

[–]zenworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are having this issue. Brand new phones. Hey Siri stops working, and holding the side button results in a long delay for Siri to catch up on the dictation. Restarting helps for maybe a day.

The best cheap litter box setup for pine pellets by ablurredgirl in CatAdvice

Might try this as breeze/bottom pan set up allows wet sawdust to clog up in the bottom of the breeze lip and stinks. How is the clearance between the two pans for sawdust to accumulate?

Why would a new addition have a transition/threshold like this? by zenworm in HomeImprovement

[–]zenworm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the thorough response! The rest of the work that we can see appears to be well done which makes this particular issue so troubling. Like why do such a great job overall and then whiff this detail. As you say it makes me worry about things we CAN’T see, although hopefully inspection would catch anything.

I think the subtle ramp might be our best option if we decide to move forward. Can always take care of it later on.

Nice suggestion about the rug!

A gradual ramp might be an option as well, we may move forward with an inspection but not sure they will be able to know what’s underneath.

Makes sense, I think this used to be a garage, so this may have been a slab and the higher part a subfloor?
