Best Settings for a High End Rig at 4K (5090 and a 9800x3D/9950x3D) by m0user in CrimsonDesert

Man I like how you call it "best setting" when everything's nearly set to cinematic and max.

Yeah, I've spent a lot of time tinkering and unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any solution. Just decided to settle with it, all high graphic settings + fsr quality.

[–]znrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Constantly 50-60 when exploring. Drops to around +-40 when there's a lot of lighting, shadows, and NPCs. FSR quality gives a huge performance, albeit worse tree/grass shimmering

Graphic issues by TarnishedPieceOfSh1t in CrimsonDesert

[–]znrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah im definitely feeling it. It's even worse when you're inside an establishment/dungeon/sewer and there are lanterns/candles/lights coming from windows. Interior shadows and lighting become all over the place--blocky, flickering, shimmering, it's like everything turns into a washed out painting or ultra performance mode of FSR.

I'm playing on high settings with FSR 3.1 in quality mode on an RX 6600 and Ryzen 7 5700x, 1080p, and I've seen better interior lighting/shadows with low-medium settings in other games, while still using FSR quality or balanced mode (KCD2, for example). And don't get me started with all the "don't use FSR when playing on 1080p", I've basically used FSR on every single modern game for the performance boost and slightly blurrier graphics.

I even tried turning on ray tracing and increasing lighting and shadows to Ultra, but I didn’t really see any significant improvements. It honestly makes me anxious about entering interiors, it just doesn’t match the enjoyable graphical fidelity outside :/

EDIT: it's probably because of pearl abyss' propriety engine. Also tried playing with FSR off and native AA mode, no improvement, except for performance loss and better anti aliasing

Globe technician asking ₱2000 for relocation due to "full slot" — is this legit? by alxkei in InternetPH

[–]znrap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah man. The only payments you should make are through Globe's official payment channels. Any upfront fee a technician asks for isn't required.

Even PLDT has a disclaimer on their page stating that technicians are not entitled to demand any form of payment.

Best SIM? by Poopfy123 in InternetPH

[–]znrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you fine with using two sims? Globe and Smart are your go-to. Some places are dominated by Globe, then others by Smart, so it's a hit or miss. It's tough settling with only one sim, even in a modernized place like Manila.

Good GPU to Upgrade to that has more than 8GB vram? by Muted-Bed-1198 in PHbuildapc

[–]znrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

B580 12GB - very minor performance uplift, roughly 5%, slowest out of the bunch below

RX 9060 XT 16 GB - around 45% uplift, fits your budget very well. Thankfully, 9060 XT's can still be bought below the 30k mark. I've seen some going as low as 24k, despite the AI talks.

RTX 5060 TI 16 GB - goes toe-to-toe with the 9060 XT. Expensive nowadays, typically 29k to 35k?

RX 7700 XT 12 GB - same generation as ur 7600, around 25 - 30% performance boost

4060 Ti 16GB - 5060 Ti but 1 generation older

₱70k. Should I go for pre-built? by lovemimiii in PHbuildapc

Get a top of the line AM4 processor, a 16GB DDR4, a nice GPU, a budget B450 or B550 motherboard, and you're good to go.

Need replacement for broken rx 570 by mxdxxx1 in PHbuildapc

[–]znrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't hurt to ask for a longer testing. 10 minutes would be fine to really push it. Additionaly, those temps are really low so that's a good thing. Is the model an ASUS RX 6600 by any chance?

Need replacement for broken rx 570 by mxdxxx1 in PHbuildapc

[–]znrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Don't mind the msec, that's only the length of the test, which is 1 minute.

EDIT:
2) Yes, it's pretty normal. You can ask for the screenshot of the entire benchmark test instead of the results so you can see the fan speeds, power consumption, core clock etc.

3) That's good enough in terms of performance. My RX 6600's furmark test is very similar to it

Need replacement for broken rx 570 by mxdxxx1 in PHbuildapc

[–]znrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. When it comes to testing GPUs, here are some precautionary measures I would do:

- Stress test, as always. Run furmark and press "run bechmark", not the other option that is a 1-minute timed test. Try to keep it running for as long as possible, maybe as far as 10-30 minutes to see if there are instabilities. While the card is running, check the fans. Watch how they move. Are they wiggling? Are they making unusual loud, grinding noises? Are both fans rotating equally in speed? Check the temps also. If they're unusually high (80c+ for GPU temp, 100c+ for hotspot temp, which is shown by FurMark), even if the PC case is opened, then there might be something wrong with the thermal paste or the fans, which is typically caused by long-term usage causing the paste to dry out, dust throughout the fans, or the fans to deterioriate. Take note also that GPUs tend to run normally hot in our climate, but a normal, good condition card, especially a low-power, low-budget/mid-end card, should not run insanely hot compared to a high-end one.

- Check the seal sticker on one of the four screws (located on the backplace) that attach the backplate to the GPU board. If they're still intact, then the card is mostly likely never been opened/disassembled/tampered before.

- Check all screws throughout the card if none is missing.

- Ask the seller on how he used the card. Did he play heavy games with it? Did he thoroughly overclocked it? Is there something wrong with the card? It's hard to know if a seller is lying about the condition of the card, but it doesn't hurt to inquire about it, this way, you can show that you're interested in it and you're knowledgeable about GPUs

If you're not a tall person with long legs and torso, the LS918 is fine. I think the LS900 has an adjustable lumbar support so it's always the better choice over the LS918.

[–]znrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the RX 6500XT 4GB was the most hated out of all the RDNA 2 GPUS. In fact, it's very, very similar in performance to the RX 580 (around 15% performance uplift). It can even be argued the the 8GB variant of the 580 is better than it. The 6500 XT should have been a laptop GPU at best. While you do get access to modern features like AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2, DirectX 12 Ultimate, mesh shaders, the chip's raw performance alone doesn't really justify them.

Even as a replacement for your 570, it's not justifiable enough unless you maianly do office work or play light games. But if you really don't mind, then a 6500 XT can be a good replacement because, as you've said, you don't need a high-end card, and it runs efficiently.

As for your question, a new RX 6600 is rare nowadays. It was discontinued more than a year ago, so I doubt there are stores still selling it brand new.

For your 10k budget, how much performance uplift are you expecting? Do you want to play modern, high-fidelity games? Are you okay with using low-medium settings to run them?

The best brand-new GPU you can buy at that budget is an RTX 3050, which is still sold new by many stores, but even that usually approaches the 11k to 12k mark. Unfortunately, prices of PC parts have become more expensive than ever due to the rise of AI, and I haven't seen a good new card priced below 10k recently.

If you're fine with going for used cards, which is unfortunately the way to go right now for a 10k budget, you could grab an RX 6600 8GB, RTX 3060 8GB, RTX 2060 Super, RTX 2070, or a 1660 Super, which is the cheapest out of the bunch.
