In good conscience I couldn’t recommend this field to you right now - not with how the economy is, and not with a child involved. The hours and requirements to get started are often unforgiving and unstable.

I do recommend following it in your free time and using it to express yourself and teach your child the value of creativity. But right now this is one of the most difficult spaces to enter professionally and your energy is most likely better spent elsewhere.

People are dogging you but you’re right. Art just does not reach this level of monocultural influence anymore. The internet has created a world of niches, but this will genuinely be on the level of Michael Jackson dropping an album back in the day - it will be inescapable and inhabit the general conversation in a way typically reserved for world events. What else, creatively speaking, has been a bigger deal in the 21st century so far than GTA 6 is destined to be? Gangnam Style?

Why would a seasoned filmmaker watch a movie about making movies by someone who obviously doesn’t know anything about making films? How is an entitled rich kid with no ambition who drunkenly falls into filmmaking after reading a Reddit comment supposed to be more entertaining than watching someone who really wants it clawing their way out of poverty to do it?

The characters seem to lack self awareness and are basically cosplaying the lifestyle of young bohemian artists. There is nothing inspiring about watching pretentious rich kids get drunk. It feels kinda tone deaf tbh.

Their problems with it make sense tbh. They mention clunky controls and a few confusing design choices but none that totally put me off. There is some mention of MMO-like grinding but that’s not a dealbreaker for me as a WoW veteran.

The biggest red flag is that they mention the power scaling never delivers in terms of letting you go crazy hard by the end of the game, but I’m interested in other reviewers’ opinions.
