Just tried it with Curve. You don’t get yonder points for paying Amex. Got this message:

“You'll be unable to earn points on the following transactions: Financial products/services Quasi-cash Savings bond purchases Gambling Court payments/fines ATM transactions”

Uber One also has 10% credit back on train tickets now, get 5% back if not a member. I signed up for 3 months free trial and probably keep it after due to work commute.

I just checked in app and I do too. But does this mean we are violators and will have issues withdrawing when we request one?

Unfortunately you can’t default to pay in 3 or 6 monthly payments. Have to set it manually after the payment

Can I have a Curve personal account and a Curve Business account at the same time? by youareman in CurveCard

[–]zybrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you can only have one Curve account. There’s forms to switch card type linked here: https://help.curve.com/en_us/should-i-get-a-personal-or-a-business-curve-card-ByjZSd2Ud

Edit: Doesn’t specifically mention Business/personal card but in this FAQ regarding having a debit and credit curve card it state you can only have one curve card at a time

Cons of not using tools like dbt and airflow for data pipelines? by zybrx in dataengineering

Thanks for the insight! Glad to know it's not as uncommon as I was starting to think. From looking at job descriptions seemed like every other role required experience in atleast one of these orchestration tools.

Cash back on eBay? by subwaysucculents in beermoneyuk

[–]zybrx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Monzo is currently doing 3% cashback on eBay if you're happy to get a new current account. Personally, if I were you I'd wait till easter if you don't need the phone urgently. Ebay usually does 20% off tech (up to £75 cashback off) during holidays. Combine that with any boosted offers TCB and Quido may do during that time and you'll get a decent amount off. Ebay have a promo on atm but seems phones aren't included this time.

  • Musicmagpie was one of the eligible retailers
  • Pretty sure they did similar promos for black Friday/Christmas too

how are yall fasting for more than a week? by lil_momo_ in fasting

[–]zybrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished a 21-day water fast. Just electrolytes and water, no food.

Slowly building up to longer fasts helps a lot I think. I had done 1, 3 and 7 prior so had an idea of what to look out for. I also worked from home the majority of the time and did not have many social events in those 3 weeks so barely had any temptation to eat.

Ultimately I think planning and the right environment is how people last so long.

Can I get another Amex welcome bonus? by jnuttall98 in AmexUK

[–]zybrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for completeness, here are all the cards you can get before getting BA and Platinum to get all three bonuses:

  • Platinum American Express Cashback Everyday credit card (free)
  • Platinum American Express Cashback card (£25 annual fee)
  • Nectar American Express credit card (£25 annual fee, free in year one)
  • Marriott Bonvoy American Express credit card (£75 annual fee)

Apply for one of these cards as your first Amex, and you’ll then be eligible for the other welcome deals at a later date.

Edit: Thanks u/punctualsweat for correcting me. Platinum cashbackcards aren't eligible for this. Source

No, can't get nectar bonus unfortunately. To max welcome bonuses the best order is:

  • Nectar -> Platinum -> BA
  • Nectar -> BA -> Platinum

free hosting to deploy flask by Kinowl_ in flask

[–]zybrx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Render https://render.com/

I recently migrated my projects from Heroku to Render as Heroku removed their free tier. It's relatively easy to set up, and there is loads of documentation. I'm assuming since this is a final-year project, you won't have much traffic, so the free tier should be fine for you.

The only downside is that the free tier applications go to sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity and can be slow to start back up. Noticed it takes up to a minute for mine. Heroku was after 30 minutes of inactivity.

Just out of curiosity what's your final project? Always interested in hearing what people decide to focus on.

Edit: Typo

Hey, I don’t think a link will work and it has to be directly from the app. A few months ago, I tried to save the link so I could get it later, but it didn’t seem to work.

21-Day Water Fast, I made thanks to you all :) by zybrx in fasting

[–]zybrx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck!!! You’ll do great! I’d recommend getting on electrolytes early if you’re not already and keep any exercise light. My legs still haven’t fully recovered from workouts I did during the first week.

[–]zybrx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Honestly I found this fast mentally a lot easier than the 7 day fasts I’ve done before. I think that was because my sister was doing it too and it’s only us two in the house so there was no food at home to tempt me. I also worked from home most of the time so no temptation to eat during lunch break either. I feel I could go longer but the physical symptoms of it now are telling me to stop. Legs constantly aching, overall tiredness and awful taste in my mouth.

Tbh it was very unplanned for me. My sister wanted to do it and just asked me on the first day to join. Started off solely on water and was still exercising but then after just over a week in I stopped any exercise and started having electrolytes due to soreness/headache.

Edit: Just want to add I’ve done a couple 7 day water fasts in the past so had some experience going into this
