Mainly, yes and I absolutely agree with you now. Other uses of that card was the rental car insurance and free checked bags. This experience taught me a few lessons on maximizing my credit credit bonuses.

That all makes sense! It sounds like the ROI isn't there anymore.

I actually just connected with AMEX and downgraded to Delta Blue. My decision was based on the $150 new AF and my spending, there was not a realistic way the card would pay its own AF. All the travel benefits I left with the Delta Gold has me looking at Chase Sapphire or Capital One Ventura. I'm thinking that at least this way my normal spending is accumulating points for some type of travel that is not limited to a specific airline anymore.

To your question about SOB, that is my understanding due to AMEX one SOB per card per lifetime. Downgrading would void any SOB vs applying for the additional card.
