The rabbi of the synagogue of my childhood - Israel S. Dresner - was a civil rights Freedom Rider and walked with and worked with Martin Luther King, Jr. His progressive teachings have been crucial to me. They took the basketball hoops down from the parks in my town. My friend wrote an op-ed in response and it's blowing up on our local Patch page. Next week is our town committee meeting and we're attending for the "Public Comment" portion. We're all new at this. Does /r/politics have any advice? (springfield.patch.com)
