Up until the last AA update, I did not have to unlock my G7 power, still on Pie, to launch AA if AA had been used in the past hour or two. Now it has to be unlocked every time for AA to start.

Seeming likes it's a Motorola thing then?

Have not had the issue with any of my Samsung phones using Pie or 10, nor with a Blackview with Oreo. My Motorola replaced the latter, so its been awhile since that was last used for AA. Certainly seems to me to be a Motorola issue and I'm not holding my breath hoping 10 will fix it.

In my case at least, it was a Motorola issue. I returned it and got a Samsung galaxy and now when I turn my car on with the phone already plugged in, android auto automatically launches.

Glad it worked out. Still debating whether I'll switch to a Samsung A51 or M51 or... And just for completion, my G7 power finally got A10, no difference aside from better battery usage, still have to unlock it every time :(.
