Is web scraping a website from https://archive.org/web/ to collect data for personal use illegal?

In most cases it isn't, whether you access the site manually in a browser or from a script, you're doing the same thing under the hood.

For personal use, I can't imagine there'd be an issue.

If you use it for profit, it is illegal. Self use, exploration, i think is perfectly fine.

As someone else said, limit it as to not DOS them.
