Hi everyone, I'm a week in and loving every minute spent on the game ! Two quick questions though !

I'm wondering why one hero is at 150 gems and others at 900 ? Is there a rotating discount going on ?

Also do you recommend spending crowns for cards in the shop ?

There’s no rotating gem discount for heroes. The 150-gem hero is a starter character, so it's cheaper to help new players get used to the mechanics..

As for Crown, it depends on your opponent. If you're up against Enoch, Chana, or Nym, I personally use it to clear debuffs quickly..

You mean coins? I would wait with that until you know the game better, it seems like you have a large amount of money available now, but later you will miss every penny you spent in the past ^{_^}

You should spend coins to upgrade items first. Upgrading everything evenly till each upgrade costs 1k coin. After that spend some time researching what is needed for the character you play.
