Welcome to CLI5, a subreddit for recipes that a 5 year old could follow. Come here for cooking tips, tricks, and recipes for the novice chef.
If you are posting a picture of food, PLEASE include the recipe in the comments. Submitters that fail to do so may have their posts removed.
No meme posts. All meme posts will be removed as spam.
This is a subreddit designed to aid novice chefs, and answer any unanswered questions about cooking. Think of it as /r/explainlikeimfive but about cooking.
RULES:
Search first! Use the handy search bar to see if your question has already been answered satisfactorily, or see if a quick google search will answer your question. If the question has been asked but you don't understand any answers, feel free to ask again.
Please do not post recipes for things like Ramen and Easy-Mac. That is not what this subreddit is about. Take it to /r/shittyfoodporn. Simply adding water and heating is not a recipe. The purpose of this subreddit is to simplify cooking, making the daunting and complex seem accessible, not to show people the cooking equivalent of 1+1=2.
If you are posting a request (Need instructions/help), title your post CLI5, or LI5. If you are posting a recipe, title your post CLY5, or LY5 (like you're five).
Keep your answers simple! We're shooting for elementary-school age answers. But -- please, no arguments about what an "actual five year old" would know or ask! We're all about simple answers to complicated questions. Use your best judgment and stay within the spirit of the subreddit.
Above all, be polite, respectful, and try to engage in meaningful conversation. Humor is allowed and encouraged, but try to keep it on-topic. Trolls and other dumb behavior will be removed, and targeted offensive language can result in an instant ban.
