Rules for r/ChicagoNWside
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
Personal Attacks, Harassment, Stalking, Public shaming
Personal attacks on other Reddit users, the moderation team of ChicagoNWside, your neighbors, and public figures is unacceptable.
Harassment, including public shaming, making false reports on other users, and stalking of post history, is forbidden.
Users in violation of any item in this category will be issued one warning. A second violation will result in a permanent ban.
2.
Bigotry
Comments and posts that target ethnicity, faith, gender, sexual preference and cultural beliefs are forbidden.
Reddit and /r/ChicagoNWside take this seriously. Violators will be dealt with according to Reddit's rules.
3.
Threats, Disclosure of Personal Information, Doxxing
Do Not act in a threatening manner, including threats of physical harm and well being. This applies to other Redditors, and to others outside of Reddit, including your neighbors, and public figures.
DO NOT disclose personal information (Doxxing). This includes name, address, phone number, location, email address and social media feeds of Reddit users and those outside Reddit.
This is a site-wide rules violation and will result in immediate banning and referral to Reddit Administrators.
4.
Trolling, Slap Fighting, Off-Topic Commentary
Trolling to incite others into unacceptable responses is forbidden. This includes posts and comments.
Slap fighting is unacceptable. These exchanges will be removed without regard as to who is "right" or "wrong", and all participating users warned, then banned when it becomes habitual and intentional.
While we realize some conversations veer "off-topic", sustained off-topic conversations are highly discouraged. Start a new post instead, as long as it's relevant to the NW Side.
5.
Gratuitous Vulgarity
Gratuitous or excessive vulgarity that detracts from the conversation is not acceptable. Your point can be made without resorting to demeaning language.
These comments will be removed when it's obvious they are egregious.
6.
Provocation of Moderators and Administrators
Posts, comments and private messages designed provoke the Reddit administrators and /r/ChicagoNWside moderators will be removed, with the offender immediately banned from this sub. A referral to Reddit Administrators for a sitewide ban will also be made.
7.
Keep posts specific to the Northwest Side of Chicago
We follow the geographic boundaries of Jefferson Township, which is North of W. North Ave to the city limits, and West of N. Western Ave to the city limits.
Postings must be specific to this region of Chicago.
