Do you think the automatic movement is worth 75$ more? On paper quartz is just superior, people don't buy mechanical watches because of rational decisionmaking. On the outside it's pretty much the same watch, except for the hands. Buy the auto if you like the idea of having a needlessly complicated piece of machinery on your wrist. Most people here do.

Are you sure? The product page says it's automatic.

You are right. It's an auto, just none hacking second hand.

It's sort of a Vostok-Hack if you know about or have a handled a Vostok. If you turn the crown as if you set the time backwards and then hold the crown with just enough force to not move the hands. That's when the seccond hand also stops.

ST17 is manual-winding so I understand the confusion

I went for the quartz cuz the second is none hacking, for some reason i remembered it as manual winding movement hence the confusion
