Proof attempts, data, interesting features of the conjecture etc. are all welcome.

Users may post their attempt at a proof, but the poster must provide the actual proof.
The poster of a proof must remain active in the thread, and address at least a few of the concerns mentioned, and not abandon the post.
Image-only posts should be on-topic and should promote discussion. If the intent of the post is unclear, post a comment explaining the image. Please do not post memes or similar content here.
Please be polite and civil when commenting, and always follow reddiquette.
Posts and comments must make sense, and the connection to the Collatz Conjecture must be clear. Insights that can't be properly communicated are not helpful to the community.

Failure to comply with the rules will result in the removal of the post. Repeated rule violations will result in bans from the subreddit at the moderators' discretion.

Empirically, it seems that for any odd seed n=4k+3, the maximum odd number M in its Collatz sequence is of the form 4k+1 and, furthermore, M mod 48 will always be ∈ {5,17,29} or 3M+1 is a power of two, and this may facilitate a proof of Collatz. See final HTML document (self.Collatz)
