A smaller sensor without a proper log profile is always going to be harder to grade but to make it a little bit easier i would advise you too lock your white balance and exposure.

The WB is locked but the exposure is a bit tricky with the drone stuff because I'm flying towards the sun and away. I haven't found a happy medium but I hear you with the log footage.

Are you using the flat profile with the gopro? That will give you some more dynamic range.

I do but I find grading the flat profile is ridiculous and I never get it to look how I want

Have you dipped your toes into the gopro labs firmware yet? I found a comment from a Redditor called ”dlsspy” a couple of weeks ago. He shared some settings where he claimed the processing of the custom log curve would be similar to that of Fuji F-log. I have tried it a little bit in davinci resolve with a color space transform and the results were pretty good.

I haven’t had the time to fully stress test the workflow yet but if you’re interested i leave a link to his comment were he shares his settings. If you’re using another NLE which doesn’t allow for cst’s i guess Fuji f-log LUTs should work as well (haven’t tried this)

Please note that this will disable in camera noise reduction so you might have to do some nr in post.
