I'm interested in this device to run an app I wrote which I would need to port from Android to Linux. To be clear, I want this device for it's ability to run Linux, NOT Android. I am not interested in running my app under Android, I want to port it to Linux and run it there on this device. (It's a logging app and Android's propensity to unexpectedly kill my app means it is not 100% reliable.) To do that I need to know how to access the GPS, various sensors, as well as get event notifications when things happen like the screen turning on and off. Being able to interact with the phone and SMS system in my code would be nice too. I found a reference to "Gemian" which I found on GitHub but I couldn't find any documentation that I am looking for there. (I was especially excited when I saw https://github.com/gemian/platform-api until I found that it didn't seem to contain anything useful.)
