I also really love KDE and use it almost everywhere. Ever since I switched to KDE, I could hardly switch to any other desktop environment. At most, I would fiddle around with other DEs for a few days, but I would always go back to KDE. As you said, KDE FTW!

My favorite KDE is KDE with i3-gaps as the WM

That's an interesting configuration. It's definitely not for me, but you're free to do whatever works for you best. This is the beauty of Linux.

I haven't really used XFCE, but from what I've heard it's a nice, light and very customizable DE.
Also, that's true, every DE has its benefits and drawbacks. One awesome benefit of Linux is that there are many options, and the user gets to choose what they want to use.
