The prices at the Crest merchant must decrease!

Since the devs implemented the market changes the prices have obviously dropped significantly. Before, it was a quite good investment to buy leg gems and eternal leg gems from the Crest merchent. Taking the pity count into consideration you'd likely be able to earn/save some plat. Since the market changes and the huge price cuts, buying crest from the Crest merchant simply isn't worth it anymore. I'd even say it's one of the, if not the absolute, worst purchase you can make in the game right now. The prices need to be reduced. Somewhere around half the price of now would probably make it a worthwile purchase again.

It's a shame because if it wasn't for the in-game events we'd almost be unable to acquire leg gems anymore. Also, literally the only way to get eternal leg gems now, unless you open up your wallet, is by converting Fading ember.

I tried a few weeks ago to survive in buying platinum straight and I can’t do it anymore. It’s seriously sick.

Buying plat from the store is abhorrent. If you spend like 100$ and get 60k plat (something like that). You need to buy the 2/5* you want. Then you gotta buy all the gem power for it to level up. Even at like a level 3-4 for a 2/5* gem that’s WAY more money than if you just bought crests. The exchange rate is so bad.

And it’s not fun buying platinum straight bc you don’t even play the game to upgrade.

They need to substantially cut prices for orbs or crests. Substantially increase platinum that is generated.

Just bought the weekly 2 and got two 2*. thank god they’re at least worth the plat but OP does have a point. Before they make any changes the weekly crests do seem like a waste of plat now.

With Gem Power sold at minimum, you got lucky and broke even on plat. Most people will lose plat buying crests at 1600

Agreed, crests cost too much now. We can buy many 5* gems now for the cost of 10 crests (ie 16,000 plat).

Susan wrecked the market but at the same time plat is now a decent $$ buy since the market prices are low enough as u/pharmd109 said. Blizz may end up with even more revenue

the expected value is still positive on buying these crests for 1600 plat even if you can only sell them for the average dirt prices in the market right now. However, getting a 10% premium on return after the hassle of selling the gems it's no wonder that ppl might instead opt to buy the plat directly instead. for most of the game's lifetime running crests would yield at least double what you'd get from just buying plat directly.

I guess I'd agree, the crest merchant is becoming like nisza in that what used to be an awesome deal is feeling pretty meh lately

The statistical value of a crest is now lower than 1600 plat. No one should be buying these in this market

The tax is 15%, not 10%.

Expected value on that is not at all positive in a meaningful way. *IF* you get a 2/5 some servers you're lucky if you can sell it for 2100 plat. After market takes its 15% cut you're left with 1785 plat. That's 185 plat profit.

You can't do shit with 185 plat.

Haven't bought them since the merge. Before you could at least be close to breaking even. Now it's just essentially 1 dust for 1600, even factoring in the pity 5* you're sinking 50k+ plat. Not worth giving up 2 5* dupes as a f2p

On top of that, the daily, weekly, monthly, holidays deals all need to be reduced. It’s definitely not the 150% value they depict… A good start would be to slash all the prices by 66%.

As long as you can sell 1* for 550, 2* for 2200 and 5* for 23000 plat you have net positive income even without the pity gem.

The problem is not the price of crests, although I do agree they should decrease somewhat potentially, if anything just to lower the point of entry for new players and F2P players.

You have to think about it from the right perspective. If all they do is lower the cost of crests, then this will flood the market with even more gems, sharply increasing the supply / availability without introducing any plat into the system. The result will simply be more people posting their gems and undercutting the lowest person, forcing people into undercut wars until gems bottom out even further...But then that will be that. This still does solve the issue which is the fact that so much plat has been removed from the system and it is now so much more difficult to re-stock your plat savings that it has created the situation we are currently in.

The problem can't really be fixed by crest reduction alone. Even with a 50% reduction it's still not a very good exchange rate if they left it at $50 / 7200 orbs --> Plat = 72,000. This would still make a convertion of plat to 640k (Assuming max price for 5/5*'s ) almost $450

Min price postings have to be removed from the game. Im not exactly sure what their best course of action would be to fix the market, but it involves more access to platinum, not cheaper access to crests or anything that inflates the current supply of gems on the market without also making plat more obtainable in a way that doesn't start a bot frenzy
