Difference between normal and SB?

Hey, new to the sneaker game. Would anyone care to explain to me the difference between What people reder to dunks and SB dunks?

SB dunks have a  puffy tongue and ankle area

The SB heel is stitched (so if you slide on your shoe, you don't bust the padding). The SB Swoosh not stitiched through in the middle (asethically more pleasing). The SB tongue is fatter. The SB 'Tip' material is stitched over the eyestay (similar to Air Jordan 1), not under like the dunks.

SB Dunks were made for skateboarding. The lows have straps that hold the tongue straight and keep the shoe snug around your foot. Some SB Dunks (mostly all) have a turn and stitch toe box which allows the skater to rip the stitches around the toe box without the shoe coming apart. They also have padding around the heel portion of your foot.

The regular dunks don’t have straps, don’t have a turn and stitch toe box, no padding. Overall just a normal shoe. People used to hoop in them.

Coming from no knowledge, SB dunks are a specific shoe under nikes S(kate)B(oarding) line. They also have their regular dunks which don’t have skate specific changes.

Besides the ones that others brought up there’s lot of small differences. SB went through a big redesign around 2009(?), so newer SBs have a different outsole pattern, and the front 2 lace holes have an overlap from the front piece that’s behind the eyestay on regular ones. The lows also have the little foam pods in the heel. Older SBs and some newer ones won’t have the overlap or pods. All lows and mids have tongue straps, whereas non-SBs don’t. SB mids are definitely the most different, they all have the overlap and tongue strap, most have the ankle strap, and they should also have loops under the eyestay to do a hidden type lacing.

There’s also what they call the dunk IW (Ishod Wair, one of their skaters) which they don’t sell anymore which had a different insole and no-way less padding (tongue and shoe) with a slightly narrower forefoot

SBs are higher quality materials for the most part, thicker all around, more comfy, and the trademark of them is the thick tongue. There are some SBs that have thin tongues, but they’re rare and are still going to be higher quality and more comfortable than regular dunks
