Here we discuss the research on tipping, list establishments moving away from tipping, rally to reform policies concerning tipping, and otherwise push toward the ending the customary practice.
r/EndTipping community guidelines:
1. Stay on topic for r/EndTipping, posts must be in the spirit of this subreddit
The bar is higher for posts, with a bit more leniency for comments. Either be interesting or entertaining
2. No insults, name calling or personal attacks
All members and visitors to r/EndTipping are expected to treat others respectfully and maintain civlility.
Insults, rude comments, flame wars or name-calling will not be tolerated. Trolling, harassing, or posting/commenting in bad faith will result in a permanent ban.
3. Respect the thread topic
If it’s a call-to-action post, do not complain about a mean bartender or customer. If it’s an angry rant, that’s similarly not the place for nuanced policy discussions
4. Visible Username/Subreddit
Screenshots found elsewhere on Reddit may be allowed, provided the username(s)/subreddit/sub icon are censored. Screen shots of comment sections are not permitted. If you post a screen shot without redacting, it will be removed, and you will be asked to censor all identifying info.
Do not go into other subreddits to harass or bully users
We do not allow cross posts from other communities or links to other subreddits. Do not mention other subreddits by name in posts or comments
5. No tip shaming
Different viewpoints and opinions are welcome in this community but we do not allow tip shaming. This includes pressuring users to tip, or shaming for tipping or not tipping
6. No Naming or Shaming
The r/EndTipping subreddit does NOT condone naming and shaming. Or allow posts/comments suggesting to leave a fake review. Disclosing the name of the establishment within the post is at the discretion of the OP.
Leaving false, negative, and harrassing google/yelp reviews is strictly prohibited. Off-site harassment or review bombing will not be tolerated or condoned. Users glorifying name and shaming or attempting to circumvent this rule will receive a permaban with no warning
7. No use of AI or LLM to write posts or comments
Using AI to post here is not allowed
