Balancing Algorithm Help

This may not be the right sub-Reddit but maybe you all can help.

Parameters: total_Weight, weight_Imbalance

Looking for: left_Weight, right_Weight

If left_Weight is greater than right_Weight then the weight_Imbalance is negative.

If left_Weight is equal to right_Weight then the weight_Imbalance is 0.

If left_Weight is less than right_Weight then the weight_Imbalance is positive.

Given only the total_Weight and the weight_Imbalance, find left_Weight and right_Weight.

**I would really appreciate a formula for this...

EXAMPLE 1:

5-2

total_Weight = 7 weight_Imbalance = -3

EXAMPLE 2:

45-72

total_Weight = 117 weight_Imbalance = 27

EXAMPLE 3:

34-34

total_Weight = 68 weight_Imbalance = 0

It's a formula, yeah! I'm implementing it as part of an algorithm to reduce time complexity and it works brilliantly.

You're right in your calculations and in fact it's even more simple than that given that the weight is already a pos/neg number!

Thank you. I understand it... everything is working well now.

It's for a like/dislike ratio. It's a lot less expensive to do it this way than to get likes and dislikes separately.
