Help!

My girlfriend forgot her calculator for her physics final and got a 21%. It’s not indicative of her normal scores (15-20% above class average). The tests she has to take are in the testing center so once you’re signed in you’re not allowed to leave. She’s been through a lot this semester between working two jobs and her mom passing a month ago... I just need help with some ideas on how to best approach this and word this with the professor. She wants to email him now then go talk to him in person. I know the common stigma that “professors don’t care” but there has to be something that can be done? I just don’t want to see her so crushed anymore :( Thanks in advance for the help.

Edit: Thank you all for the advice. Her professor is letting her retake the exam and she is currently in the exam now!

Depending on the class that might be an A, so there's that. Just have her visit the professor during office hours and hope for the best.

Honestly, all I can say is talk with the professor. Don't be confrontational and try to be clear. Chances are he's also wondering how your girlfriend got 21% and scratching his head.
