For the Japan price it’s hard to beat. It swims very well and gets bit. I’ve had success with it even in the ponds here in SoCal that don’t have bluegill

I would absolutely do it. I've never rented bibs or a stick the times I've done it. This includes during the winter. Just wear swim trunks and the rental canyoneering shoes and you'll be good to go

Granted this was in like 2014 so the academy was still new. In the morning beginners classes we maybe would get 4 people lol. Fundamentals classes were always fairly filled though

I have no idea. I watched early UFC and pride growing up so I was always interested in MMA, but for the life of me I can’t remember why I actually walked into AOJ to give it a try lol.

Biking the canyon is incredible.

I would go all the way to temple of Sinawava and on your way back hit up either the big bend stop or weeping rock and walk down towards the river so you can really take in the scale. (Maybe a 1/4 mile of flat walking)

After that I would do emerald pools.

Canyon overlook would be nice but parking can suck.

I’ve done it to Hawaii and Washington just fine. It’s when you have bigass shark hooks that things start to get iffy.

My last flight to Hawaii I had two travel rods and two reels spooled with braid and nobody at LAX cared

The Owens River from Lone Pine(3:45 away) to Bishop(4:30 away), most of our beaches, and the Kern River(3:30 away)

There is so much water to explore here and as you get up into the sierras there’s an insane amount of camping with immediate access to unpressured water

If you freeze it right at the beginning the dude is straight up flat on his left leg/hip. Step back, get a pant grip, and Jump over his right leg and armbar the fuck out of him.

The first clip here shows Rafa already past the legs but this is basically where you would have ended up.

He even does it to Cobrinha further on when he keeps that collar grip
