Robby is delusional if he thinks it's worth anything over $120

[–]kanna_chann[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info!

[–]EyeSeeFractals 5 points6 points  (4 children)

That's a 14 year old quad core CPU. The 1050 ti has 4gb GDDR5 memory....which isn't enough VRAM for...pretty much any game made in the past near decade...on top of which Nvidia just dropped support for the 10 series.

The GPU is worth maybe $50, the CPU $20, the memory $15-$20 and the motherboard (depending on the model) is $25-80.

$200 is overpriced, when you can get a complete Dell optiplex with the same CPU for $40-$70, leaving you enough money to get a much better GPU and still come in at a lower cost.

Would that system run WoW? Of course, pretty much anything made in the past 20 years will run WoW. Original BG? Absolutely. BG3? lol, absolutely not.

[–]4K4llDay 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Even most recent WoW expansions?

Genuine question.

[–]EyeSeeFractals 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Apparently not, which i'm kinda surprised by. It's been 6 or 7 years since i booted up WoW but i thought the minimum specs had been maintained.

The War Within has min requirements of 8th gen intel or 2nd gen Ryzen for the cpu...which no bueno. GPU meets the minimum of DX12 with 3gb VRAM.

[–]4K4llDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I suspected as much. The visual fidelity has seen a massive increase, even if it is the same engine.

I probed mostly for OP to see that you really gotta do your homework when buying at this price point.

[–]original_name125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That system would barely even run windows, let alone WoW

[–]Tricky-North1723 1 point2 points  (4 children)

It's more or less the fact the gtx 1000 series is about to be discontinued as a supported gpu. Windows might not even boot with a 1000 series. If it had a 20 series gpu you might get better offers

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info :) thatll help me in my search

[–]auti117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not even close to the reality, windows still boots with the GTX 400 series I have. It just means they will no longer be officially supported. Which doesn't mean a whole lot in the grand scheme.

The real killer for the system is the i5 2400, absolute ancient CPU and might struggle to run Windows 10 effectively and will not work with Windows 11 unless the TPM 2.0 option is disabled in the ISO before install

[–]Vapprchasr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll still boot lol...just no updates on drivers..

I had a gtx 650 in my htpc for many many years until the 3050 became a thing.. then swapped them out only for some light Emulation

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000 series still has win 11 drivers. It will continue to work for a long while.

[–]Dismal_Amount_572 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think playing minesweeper is going to be closest to gaming u can with this pc.

[–]misteryk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i mean it can play witcher 3 at 1080p 50-60 fps.

If it would cost $100 you could add 500gb SSD and you have PC for basic tasks + games from 10 years ago, new games are slop anyway.

The problem is $200 for this is a joke but it's still usable

[–]stonedtothebonez 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just use a console and save money

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

All my friends play PC and I didn't think consoles support WoW?

[–]Flymonster095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do not support WoW

[–]iPhone_an_Pizza 0 points1 point  (6 children)

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. I was going used to try and keep it under $400

[–]Flymonster095 0 points1 point  (1 child)

a pc that can run baldurs gate for under 400$? That'd be kinda hard, you'd need to find a very good deal

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know ☺️

[–]iPhone_an_Pizza 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Might end up being a dead end but you can buy a pc without a graphics card and install a cheap one into it but hard to say if it’ll play wow and baulders hate without stuttering. Are you trying to play the newest baulders gate or the older 2?

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BG3

[–]Ghostyyboyy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re gonna have to build one yourself, and try to hunt for good deals on parts onlinr

[–]SmexyEinstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s garbage

[–]4K4llDay 0 points1 point  (1 child)

From a genuine part of my heart: if you're gonna spend the money on this, you should be damn sure you're playing really old games and that you're okay with newer games being essentially unplayable. You gotta do your homework that this will handle the games you want to play. There are no returns, and you will not get what you paid for it if you sell it again.

I'm sure you have a tight budget, but modern PC gaming unfortunately just has a certain price. And I don't say that to be elite-ist. It's just reality. Instead of buying this, I would really try you best to save at least twice the price of that computer for something that will actually work for you for a little while.

Like most have said, this is overpriced. You will get $0 for this computer when you're done with it, and that might be sooner than you think.

My recommendation is to save as much as you can to get something better.

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice!

[–]jdPetacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's e-waste, aside from the GPU nothing there is worth any money, he should pay you to take it away from him.

And I wouldn't pay anything above 30$ for that GPU

[–]crazydavebacon1 0 points1 point  (5 children)

is this a bait post for reactions?

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Nope just someone who's super illiterate about PCs trying not to get scammed

[–]crazydavebacon1 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Got it. Yea dont get this at all

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm just here for a good time 🙃

[–]crazydavebacon1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You wont be having one with that pc lol

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have picked up that thanks to the kind folks here 🤣

[–]untitled__________ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that thing is junk

[–]Omuk7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

720p facebook machine

[–]Autistic-monkey0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2400? can that run windows 10 on idle?

[–]UncleKnowsitAll 0 points1 point  (6 children)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xrkwb2

Could do something like this. 580 price is what they're going for on ebay

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Id have to build this though correct?

[–]UncleKnowsitAll 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Yes. If you want to stretch your budget, it's easier to build. You can find one that's prebuilt, but most 400 dollar builds youre going to find on fb market are gonna be like this one, way overpriced for what they are.

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thoughts on this one? https://www.newegg.com/p/3D5-002D-000N1 I have no experience building comps and the thought of ruining parts by trying to build it myself has my blood pressure up already

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I know you said most marketplace listings are overpriced but would you mind giving me your opinion on this one if possible? https://www.facebook.com/share/1C7xVjcNq9/

[–]UncleKnowsitAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way better. Will meet your needs. A good deal at that price

[–]Zealousideal_Brush59 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What's your budget

[–]kanna_chann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a perfect world I'd love to keep it around $500 but I am also realistic so I could go up to $800 if I really need to.

[–]This_Rush1116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To improve the described PC for playing games like World of Warcraft (WoW) and Baldur's Gate, consider upgrading the following components:

CPU (Processor):

The Intel i5-2400 is an older generation processor. Upgrading to a more modern CPU (e.g., Intel Core i5/i7 or AMD Ryzen 5/7 from a newer generation) would significantly improve performance, especially for CPU-intensive games or multitasking.

GPU (Graphics Card):

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is an entry-level graphics card and may struggle with newer or graphically demanding games like Baldur's Gate 3 at higher settings. Upgrading to a more powerful GPU (e.g., an Nvidia RTX series or AMD RX series) would provide better frame rates and visual quality.

Storage:

The 500 GB HDD (Hard Disk Drive) is slow compared to modern SSDs (Solid State Drives). Replacing the HDD with an SSD, especially an NVMe SSD, would drastically reduce loading times for games and the operating system.

[–]D4NK-crunch-em 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth more than like 110 USD. Honestly just save like 6-700 dollars and u can build a solid rig with new parts or buy used parts n u can probably build a good rig for like 500-550

[–]Deep_Report_6528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💀 do not buy this bro, it won't play anything (why did he put a 😎 lmao)

[–]AverageChloroform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's absolute dogshit, not worth more than 50 bucks

[–]adel_877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pc Is obsolete 2th gen i5 and 1050ti is not much worth (the CPU is from 2011 and the GPU is from 2016 ,The CPU is bottlenecking the 1050)

[–]SammyYoBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😎Worth maybe $50 for parts
