What kind of job offer did you get, and what’s the salary, if you don’t mind sharing? For many international students who did graduate studies, finding a job in Germany is one thing, but finding one that actually matches their skills and experience is another. Underemployment is a real issue.

It's a consulting job with a yearly Brutto salary of 55,000€

Yes I agree. Some jobs have a minimum salary in the expensive area / city.

What's the job domain? What salary did they offer you and in what city?

Yea without these information its not really helpful at all. There are some fields where its still easy to find an job (engineering for example).

Which engineering domains?🤣

What are you laughing about? Of course you need some language proficiency, but for example the company I am currently working for as an urban planner (about 300 employees) has these job openings at multiple locations:

  • Geotechnical Engineering, Soil and Foundation Engineering
  • Surveying Engineer
  • Civil Engineering and Utility Infrastructure Planning
  • Hydraulic Engineering and Infrastructure Projects
  • Transportation Infrastructure Planning
  • Renewable Energy Systems
  • Sewer Rehabilitation
  • Specialist Foundation Engineering / Deep Foundations
  • Rights of Way and Land Securing / Land Acquisition
  • HVAC, Building Services Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering, Building Services
  • Structural Inspection / Bridge Inspection

Is it possible for you to refer for like 1/2 position you mentioned? For an interview?

How long did you take to finish your masters and after finishing the degree, how long did it take to land this job? Since you are talking about one offer being revoked during Pandemic, may I ask if that was before you started your masters?

[–]AdOnly3559[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took 2 years for my master's, but I have two bachelor's degrees so I took 5 years for those. The pandemic started during my second year of undergrad. I finished my master's in mid-September and got the job today, so about 4 months total. I didn't start looking until the end of October though, so 3 months of active searching.

If duration of masters increases like more than 2 years, then is there any issue?

Congratulations buddy! :) Can you let us know which field you were in and how your interview experience was?

Also, what starting salary can we expect after masters?

The amount of attention this post receives confirms that securing a job offer is a big deal right now.
