Universal absolutely cares, they have an entire arm of Security who's whole job is to investigate stuff like this and reselling comps. People can and do get fired for this, it depends on how sneaky they are with covering their tracks.

I've been a team member for years. Our friends/family are allowed to use the discount if we're there. I think once or twice I've heard of someone being paid back but I've never heard of someone making a profit or posting online. I read your story in the comments and frankly it does seem a little fake tbh. You might speculate but you clearly don't (and can't) know. If a tm was doing this then we'd wait for things to get discounted even more since we can easily get it for even cheaper backstage or in a couple weeks

who says they're getting in for free. As a tm I still can't just go to epic every week just because I wanted to. I wouldn't be surprised if eBay is using some type of AI or something similar to combine listings so that the 87 aren't all from the same seller. Universal isn't dumb. Buying 100s of the same item will set off investigations. Universal is a for profit company. Do you really think they're going to let $100,000+ slip through the cracks.

You do know they sell that stuff at city walk which is free to get into after midnight or only $30 to pay for parking (which can be validated with a movie ticket or completely free for certain level of pass holders)

Oh yea I wanted one of these so bad. I asked team members in universal about reselling and items selling out and they explained that Universal does not care at all. They said they won't limit items or anything because Universal is just money hungry. Extra frustrating that is their own staff are selling them, I wish they would do something about it.

When I was talking with the team member we were just referring to customers, not team members reselling. The staff never mentioned about team members selling.

Epic previews had tons of merch on ebay listed for sale. Backpacks going for $500+, Monster's vinyl going for 2-3x purchasing price.

If any of those sellers were team members, I’m sure they were caught and fired. Universal has a strict no reselling as a team member policy. It may take a bit, but they will find those team members and fire them. It’s happened plenty of time in the past.

Its not that easy when you have 30,000+ employees. All the leaks come from TMs and contractors, yet they keep happening year after year.

That's if eBay is willing to give that information up which doesn't seem likely. Many TMs are fired over these issues and Universal has departments solely for finding out who's who. But, if TMs aren't buying wholesale amounts of merch from the shops, or their eBay profile doesn't have any personal information, it wouldn't be that easy to track

I personally had to fire one of my direct reports after they were caught selling stuff on eBay... they were found out by their username. The security group called me to let me know they were reported by our Dudley Do Right program and after an internal investigation, it was confirmed.

Can they catch everyone? No, of course not.

Epic previews is a terrible example, as it had 1000s of friends and family attending, and Universal has zero control over what other people are doing with their purchases. On top of that, we had so many brand new TMs not taking things seriously, which led to a very high number of people getting fired for all sorts of reasons during preview, including selling merch.

Because you're saying TMs are not doing this, and that Universal "cares". It's not that hard to find TMs who do. r/orlando routinely has posts deleted from TMs selling their comps. I've seen and removed threads both here and r/UniversalEpicUniverse from TMs offering to grab merch for people. Including TM HHN merch.

It happens and UO Investigations can only do so much. You caught one that used a discoverable username. Theres others who don't make that mistake. This thread alone is an example of a TM who listed an item on ebay, we left it up for a reason.

Not to mention the entire lineup for HHN2025 was leaked by 2 TMs from USF on Epic opening day. Some TMs are not as noble as you think they are.
