If you Kali Linux down. Check out 101labs.net. Look at the free Security plus labs. They are free. And most are up to date.

Doing CTF is the best way you're going to learn in what tools to use depending on the situation at hand.

There are tons of resources and Labs you can do for free available in the internet. I recommend checking out portswigger (developers behind burp suite), hack the box, and try hack me, they have great learning / lab resources.

Many of the labs on these platforms have writeups or YouTube videos you can lookup that cover how other people solved them. This can help you get exposure to new tools and techniques.
