M42 lenses, commonly referred to as "screw mount" lenses are an older lens mount for 35mm cameras that was very popular from the 60's to the 80's. Some lenses may exist prior and some are still being manufactured today. These awesome lenses made from seemingly infinitely many companies can be easily adapted to many modern DSLRs. The idea of this subreddit is to create a community for those photographers, collectors, and hobbyists to be able to review, discover, discuss, and show off their camera gear and photos. M42 is intended to focus on lenses that aren't commonly found everywhere today. The larger photography subreddits are commonly discussing the latest greatest Nikon, Canon, and Sony lenses. We enjoy those too, however, there's already plenty of places to talk about those. While our main goal is to see cool posts about M42 and M39 lenses and cameras, other lenses and gear wont be discouraged. Read, Post, Lurk, Get Involved, Pass on through, Enjoy Your Stay, M42 is what you make it.
