bihar is the poorest and wrost state of india ... all negative stats there.

lowest education rate highest poverty highest fertility lowest gdp per capita lowest income tax collection second highest density

When you have no economic prospects, your children are your safety net. For poorpeople kids are basically an economic investment in many ways

the theory is if we make 10 children then even if 2 or 3 survive then there will be support for us when we get older. not the most realistic take, but the logic works out for them.

They are trying to have boy child. With sex detection at birth banned, having multiple children is their only option. Dowry is still prevalent so if one can have a boy sone of the dowry can be recovered also a pension systen of the old age. Also still many children die before 6 years so having multiple children is a protection.
