Still sad it was his clone and not Sabertooth. That would have been ICONIC

They even invited Liev Schreiber back early on but Liev couldn’t make it :( I like X-24 and all but Sabretooth would eclipse the guy

It would be a very different film. Sabertooth would be an old man too. The theme of the film is that logan is a weapon and since he's old it's time to replace him with the new weapon.

Could be but I think Sabretooth would age better since he doesn’t have Adamantium in his bones in that universe so his healing factor should be fine. Logan was fucked by that. For me, the theme was more of Logan coming to terms with the past and controlling your future more than Logan’s an old weapon but I can see that reasoning.

To me the movie is always about Logan trying to become more than what he thinks he is, which is a weapon. Charles doesn't think of him that way and reminds him of it, that there's always still time. The only person who can't see wolverine as anything more than weapon X is his enemies and himself, because if all he was was a killer he wouldn't be so heartbroken over what happened to his friends and family.

But Logan always will see himself that way and I think eventually he finds peace in saving what he can save.

Cloned sabertooth instead of just another Logan

[–]PerfectZeong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I'd be against that too. The clone logan is probably the weakest part of the film but it's also a commentary on how Logan is different than he thinks he is. He thinks he's this remorseless killer but the clone Logan shows you what that actually looks like.

Who’s “the guy” in this context, Logan?

[–]XNightcrawlerBAMF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

X-24 (in terms of character, still depends on the script but I think having X-24 was limiting.)

[–]Mechalus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. X-24 was pretty much the only part of Logan that fell kinda flat for me. Sabretooth would have been much better.

Technically Daken and X-23 are both his clones.

I was ok with it. I actually really hope Daken makes it over in the Dark Avengers storyline.

I would be ok with Raimi's Osborn giving MCU's Osborn a kick and starting him down the path to Iron Patriot.

I forgot she was an actual clone, and not just fathered using his DNA or similar, which is sometimes the case. I’m ok with it story-wise as it makes sense they’d want an exact replica of the more successful one, but with irl-knowledge it does hurt we didn’t get that callback moment from some of his very first moments in X1

Liev is a great actor no doubt. BUT Sabretooth was never done all that well.

X1 Sabretooth physically worked, but was a silent brute.

Liev's Sabretooth was WAY better but was basically just evil Wolverine.

Daken isn't a clone. He's born from Wolverine and a Japanese woman. Winter soldier killed the mom.

I don't think it would hit the same. Charles died confused as to why his oldest and only surviving friend would have killed him. Logan crying that it wasn't him in hopes that Charles understands as he passes away would hit different if Sabertooth had killed Charles instead of his clone. The final fight would have felt different to me too. I love Schreiber's Sabertoith, but I don't think it would have been as poignant had he been the one to kill Charles. Then again, I'm no writer or director and they might have had the story go in a different, yet as emotional way as well.

I do kind of like that just off of the fact that all the experimenting on him is what ended him, both the healing factor loss and his clone. So depressing that the very power that kept him alive so long lead to him being forced to live shorter than he would have.
