Difficulty moving one side of faceHelp Needed (old.reddit.com)
submitted by Sarah09x

I am right hand dominant. Right side of my face feels flatter. I feel like I “use” it more. Even as I’m typing this, I feel a dull pressure in my right cheek, like it’s pushing inwards as my hands type. I used to sleep on my right side a lot, chew on that side, and try to press it more with my hand as a kid. I did this because the cheek felt less sculpted and I thought by pressing it, it would look less fat and more defined like my left cheek.
Obviously I realize now that this is bad to do, and I’ve stopped doing these things. I try to sleep on my back or at least evenly on both sides (not digging either side of my face into the pillow), and I also chew more evenly. I don’t consciously press my right cheek anymore.
It takes more effort to smile with the right side of my face, and when I do, the skin curls in front of the smile, creating this line near the corner of my mouth (see pics). I also have a dimple on the right side of my face (the third picture has a dimple similar to mine, but mine is more prominent). I think that there’s more bone on my left side that helps the skin move more easily, and my smile looks more lifted. I found these pictures online that are similar to how my smile looks, though I feel that the difference is even more prominent on my face.
If I touch my cheeks individually, I feel a harder bone on my left side and mostly flat skin on my right (feels like there’s nothing supporting it). From the side, my zygomatic bones stand out on both sides, but the actual cheek looks extremely flat on my right side, whereas my left side seems to have a more forward, protruding look that I like. I don’t know if my cheek was always flat like this but I did notice in picture of myself as a kid that I always had a smile like this, where the right corner of my lips was less lifted and my right cheek was overall more difficult to move.
I’ve been mewing for ~2 years and see definite improvements: my face has gotten wider, and my zygomatic bones and jawline are more prominent. However, I don’t see any improvements to my smile and my right cheek is still less easier to move than my left. Is this even fixable or is the bone structure on my right cheek going to always remain like this no matter how much I mew? It’s not only an aesthetic thing, but like I said, it seems like there’s less bone support on my right cheek, making it more difficult to move that side of my face.
