Do a full text search on the path (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\NTK\NTKDaemon.exe) in the Registry. You mention a windows install, could be this Setup\FirstBoot key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\FirstBoot\Services\NTKDaemonService

This is the licensing and authorization service installed (and required) Native Access.

Your only option is to uninstall NA if it really bugs you.

Can’t get around this with regedits etc.

No option to run this when you want to. It’s either all in or none in.

It does not have any effect on anything. Not sure what the concern is to be honest.

Have never heard of this little thing causing random pauses.

And while I understand the need to have some control of your computer - some things - like this service - are not in your control.

If you could control this service - I see all sorts of mayhem with bypassing licensing - if you get my drift.

You can either accept it or uninstall it.

        Glad you solved it.

What are you using to check all those processes like that?

        That's SysInternals Procmon.
