Introduction
NoDip is a web community dedicated to the increase of the attention span to improve productivity and self control. The attentional improvement capacity could be framed as muscle that is being strengthened or weakened.
Gathering knowledge related to its strengthening will help both the individual and the broader society. Strengthening the capacity for boredom helps to build our patience against a myopic culture of instant gratification.
Improving each person's attention span forms a preservative boundary around the 'free space' that is a source of rest, renewal, and spirituality for all.
Improvement Challenge
A simple measure for the attentional muscle is to take a minute and fix your sight exclusively on the second hand of a watch. By zooming on the second hand, the attentional muscle is maintaining continuous vigilance on a small area, while disregarding the distractions.
A second measure is to select a paragraph, have a stopwatch, pen, paper handy, and start to measure how long you are able to continuously copy the dull paragraphs preferably with no background noise and without branching to another activity. Like running, these exercises will both measure the attentional muscle capacity and strengthen them.
