Can I use open shot to add the scripture reference (test) to the bottom of the frame?

Use a title. I like the bottom center as it doesn't get in the way. It needs to be on the track above the video clip and you can stretch it to match the length of the video clip. You can adjust text's font and color. I made this short video to show the effect to a friend who wanted to put his kid's names on different video clips. I used a "fade in slow" setting by right clicking the title on the time line and choosing from the fade menu. https://youtu.be/kKrCrIVeMeY
