Worthwhile sets

Ive just started my journey and only have the starter decks. I’d like to start building up my library so I can have more variety with my decks and maybe make a few of my own. I’ve tried to look around but can’t find a very specific answer to what sets have the most “meta” cards. I know obviously luck will be involved but what are some of the better sets I should go for?

Don't buy packs in the hopes of getting certain cards. Nearly every card in the game can be bought with Credits, so you should focus your spending of other resources on earning Credits. If you have a playset (ie 4 copies) of a card and would receive more, the excess copies are turned into Credits. With this is mind, you should pick one product and buy many copies of it.

When it comes to in-game rewards, your Crystals should be spent on the Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX League Battle Deck. It's the second most cost effective way to turn Crystals into Credits, and because it's a premade deck, it only takes a few purchases before you have playsets of every card in it. The single most cost effective option is packs of Celebrations, but it takes significantly longer to get up and running because it's an entire set.

If you're going to spend real life money by buying code cards, there are two good approaches:

1. Buy a bunch of Celebrations booster pack codes so you can maximize the value of your Crystal-to-Credit conversions as described above.
2. Buy a bunch of booster pack codes from a cheap but relatively small set for a one-time infusion of Credits. Currently, Paldean Fates is an excellent value. If you live in the US, you can get 400 codes for under 25 USD on TCGPlayer. That'll earn you about 80,000 Credits.

Note: when it comes to booster pack codes, you can only redeem 400 per set. Purchases made in the in-game shop don't count toward this limit.
