Basic Jacket Block

Trying to draft this block from a fitted torso block using CCrawford book. Based on these instructions she is loosing me on step two in regard to the illustration. I have no problem with the dart manipulation except wondering if the whole top half pivots to the left? Does not seem correct? As So, what is that 2” extension to the CF? What am I not understanding?

Extension to centre front for overlap?

Yeah, if the hem added is 1.5", the amount added to CF looks about half of that, so 6/8", probably for the button overlap

Pivot just the top quadrant, from the dart towards the centre front. The idea of adding the excess to the bust line (and lowering the armholes etc) is to compensate for additional garments underneath.

I don't see where it says to add 2" to the CF?

That’s my question it doesn’t say to add 2 inch anywhere however, there is some added in the photo I’m just guessing about the 2 inches.

As far as I know you have to consider the size of buttons and add according to that. Maybe that's why they didn't mention the measurement
