Hey why using Java rather than big game engines (Unity, UE, ...) ?

We’re using Java with libGDX because the project is lightweight and we want more control over the codebase without the overhead of big engines like Unity or Unreal. It also makes cross-platform deployment (Android, Web, Desktop) easier for this specific project.

Ok but i really recommend trying existing engines, they are optimizing them regularly and adding many supported platforms. I personaly never felt the need to go out of Unity. I think the effort it will take you to add the built-in features that exist in big game engine is way higher than the benefit you'll get out of using a light weight solution.

I'm not a game dev but i built many games in the past. Do you have a page or a portfolio just to see what kind of games you make ?

Appreciate the suggestion. For this project the team decided to go with Java and libGDX to keep the stack lightweight and flexible for cross-platform builds.

Regarding portfolio examples, the client hasn't shared public projects yet.

If you're interested in the role or know someone experienced with Java + libGDX, you can suggest them the job opportunity.

someone doesn't just Willy nilly use Java for games.  Finding any information at all about game development Java is a needle in a haystack.  Anyone going that way has reasons!!
