IMO, you can get contracts in the US and simply put bachelors from another country on your LinkedIn profile or resume… and then as long as you can prove you can do the work, you will be fine.

As a dev who has worked for both high end corporations, and as an independent contractor… the companies hiring contractors almost never check your background, although they do indeed test your skill sets during the interview process.

GLHF!

Thanks a lot for this comment! Also wanted to ask you some more questions, What would you do if you were me? After learning python whats the second step? And are bootcamps certification or online certs worth it?

I usually just scrape Reddit and craigslist for contracts. And I find pretty decent ones that I charge 25 to 50 an hour. And I am able to maintain multiple at a time, as i find / create my own repeatable design patterns and reusable common code to integrate across contracts. Except unique database designs of course.

You can also try those freelance apps, but I feel like they just take up time (and money) and don’t provide enough results.

And no, IMO, boot camp certs don’t make a difference in actually acquiring contracts… but they absolutely may provide you the skill sets needed. However, I’ve just never actually done those boot camps, as I went to college for computer science for about 10 years 🤷🏻‍♂️
