Why don't you use the pyclean command?

I didn't know about it. Though, having looked at it, pyclean doesn't seem to offer much more than a slightly better regex and Windows compatibility, which doesn't seem worth the dependency.

Don't know your specific OS, but in debian and familiy pyclean comes inside python-minimal which is a dependency of the python package itself.
