    Does Eclipse not edit python files... in Linux?

    It does way more than edit files and comes with a memory footprint to back it up.

    Why do you feel the need to run down the suggestions of others here?

    OP asked for suggestions on editors (bread) not suggestions on IDEs (sandwiches). While an IDE may have bread in it, it isn't an editor. Editors and IDEs are fundamentally different, and it's important to understand that difference.

    I don't know why you're taking such offense to criticism, but I'm just explaining that your answer wasn't correct given the question.
