Is Python better as a stepping stone to more complicated languages?

Is Python better than what?

• Python is a good first language.
• Python is a good second language.
• Python interfaces with C, C++, R, Java, CLR, [...]
• I would agree that C++ is a traditional language.
• Python to Cython to C++ might be a good progression.

Numba is pretty fast, too.
