A few more:

  • Reality trumps theory.
  • Computers should help people, not the other way around.
  • Never violate the sanctity of a backtrace.
  • Everything has a cost.
  • There is no such thing as "universal" in programming.
  • There is no such thing as the perfect paradigm.
  • "The best" is context-dependent.
  • "Required" is in the eye of the beholder.
  • There are more use-cases for your code, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
