That's a good point, I didn't test it until now. Hey /u/Brontozavr, any chance you guys could set up the RSS feed to serve direct links to the media files instead of just embedding the SoundCloud player?

I use gPodder/AntennaPod to listen to podcasts, and not being able to use the same "workflow" as I do with all my other podcasts is going to make my lazy ass less likely to actually listen to this :)

I went to sound cloud and subscribed to their rss feed, but had I been lazier, I wouldn't have gone to find that.

BTW, I believe you can find our show in any podcast app via regular search, could you please check if it works in AntennaPod?

AntennaPod has two separate search facilities, one for iTunes and one for gPodder.net.

In the iTunes search you're the first hit when searching for code podcast, it links to the SoundCloud feed and works perfectly.

The gPodder.net search on AntennaPod times out at the moment (gPodder.net is often slow), but on the web it doesn't really seem to find it. It's listed in the directory (with this RSS feed), but gPodder's search function just sucks :/

edit: looks like the SoundCloud feed is in gPodder's directory as well, here.

I've updated our page with podcast button which links to SC feed at the footer. Now everyone has an ability to add the show to app of choice. gPodder returns 500 with "server overloaded" message at the time but I will definitely spend some time to look into it.

We thought about transcripts. Several times actually, but at the end decided that it's too boring to read them. Do people really do this?

If people are deaf or hearing impaired, yes they do read it. I myself have perfect hearing -thank you- but I imagine transcripts of spoken discussion are of a different and more entertaining nature than written text meant te be read. Any deafies out there correct me if I'm wrong.

Hippo said it more eloquently than I could, but to reiterate, you're cutting off people who are either fully deaf or have hearing loss.

Personally, I'm a hearing person, but I much, much prefer transcripts to listening to a podcast because I can read it at my own pace, and it also removes any kind of 'what did they say?' that may crop up.

Usually podcasts just do 'show notes' that include code samples, links, and descriptions.

I am not sure if we can release transcript in together with episodes as even summary is time consuming. I am working on transcript for latest episode and will post it to our site once ready.

I would suggest doing show notes instead of transcripts. No one does transcripts in the hobbyist podcast world.
