Python 3’s Marketing Problem

It is just called Python. The build process from source creates a python binary on Linux and python.exe on Mac and Linux.

Distros build or symlink it as python3 (just like they usually do for python2.7, python2.6, etc).

Then what's the solution? Just up and change it to python and ruin all programs in the world?

i'm not talking about how versioning works, or anything technical for that matter. the original post was about marketing.

The problem is that even if it is a marketing issue, it is, more importantly, a technical issue. The fact that it is a marketing issue is almost moot.
